Edibility

Not edible

This mushroom is not considered edible due to its corky and fibrous texture. It is noted for its glossy, varnished appearance and its long-stemmed form is highly valued in traditional Chinese medicine.

Misidentification can be fatal. Never eat a mushroom unless you're 100% sure. This information may be inaccurate. Always consult multiple sources.

Nutrient Source

Saprotrophic

It obtains nutrients by breaking down dead organic matter, particularly wood, deriving sustenance from decaying trees.
