Edibility

EdibleTaste: Good ★★★☆☆

The texture of this mushroom is significantly slimy or greasy, which some people may find undesirable. The flavor is described as mild and pleasant when cooked. While there are no poisonous lookalikes, it may be confused with the edible Hygrophorus pustulatus, which features a brown-spotted stem.

Misidentification can be fatal. Never eat a mushroom unless you're 100% sure. This information may be inaccurate. Always consult multiple sources.

Nutrient Source

Ectomycorrhizal

This species forms ectomycorrhizal associations with tree roots, meaning it lives in symbiosis with trees, facilitating nutrient uptake for the tree in exchange for sugars.
