Edibility

Not edible

The milk of this mushroom has a mild flavor on its own, but it becomes hot and acrid when tasted together with the flesh. It is very similar in appearance to Lactifluus bertillonii, which is distinguished by having milk that is hot even in isolation.

Misidentification can be fatal. Never eat a mushroom unless you're 100% sure. This information may be inaccurate. Always consult multiple sources.

Nutrient Source

Ectomycorrhizal

It forms a symbiotic relationship with trees, exchanging nutrients from the soil for sugars produced by the tree.
