Habitat
This species is found on soil, typically amongst short turf in unimproved grassland, pastures, heaths, and cemeteries. It sometimes occurs on woodland fringes or on humus within coniferous and mixed forests. It grows solitarily, in scattered clusters, or in small trooping groups, showing a preference for warmer climates in certain regions.
